1. Birth of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam (1931)

Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam 1931-2015.

Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, former President of India and an iconic scientist, was born on October 15, 1931, in Rameswaram, Tamil Nadu. Known as the "Missile Man of India," he played a crucial role in India's missile and nuclear programs.



2. India vs Hong Kong in the 1964 Summer Olympics

India beat Hong Kong 6–0 in a men's hockey match on October 15, 1964 in Tokyo, Japan. India won a gold medal in field hockey at the 1964 Summer Olympics. 



3. Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation formed.

Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation came into existence as an Independent Ministry on 15.10.1999 after the merger of the Department of Statistics and the Department of Programme Implementation. The Ministry has two wings, one relating to Statistics and the other Programme Implementation. The Statistics Wing called the National Statistical Office(NSO) consists of the Central Statistical Office (CSO), the Computer center and the National Sample Survey Office (NSSO).
